As you can see, I haven’t written anything for a month. Of course, my BBN boss noticed that too. I apologize.

Well. As I told him, things have been pretty hectic during the first quarter of this year. I needed to fix a lot of things for work. The usual one-on-one monthly sessions, meetings, ad hoc activities (I’m a POC for Compliance and Overtime), training sessions and monitorials (the least thing I like to do, not a very big fan of listening to calls, suprisingly I finished more than a hundred for February). Not to mention, there is a SME on the floor (Subject Matter Expert) from a different account observing everybody. Not that I’m really worried. I really made it a point to get my deliverables done, no matter what. Which brings me to my next excuse why I wasn’t able to write — I forgot that February was a short month so I had to adjust my schedule to make sure that all my deliverables were done. Plus I had a (well-deserved) vacation for 3 days which meant I had to sacrifice some rest days to go to work and do unpaid overtime. Bleh.

I forgot who told me this but someone once said that the call center industry is like a black hole. Once you get in, you can’t get out. No matter how many times I told myself to get a “day” job, I find myself applying in another call center. No matter how sick I may get from lack of sleep. No matter how chaotic it may be on the floor when everyone is talking at the same time. No matter how haggard I get when my boss gives me a task apart from what I already have to do in a month. I’m still in it. In this comfort zone that I’ve had for the last 4 years.

Not only do I have to live with it, I now have to write about it. The work that has brought me stress, sickness and grief. It’s like an asshole boyfriend that stupid me can’t get rid of. As masochistic and crazy as this may sound… Dang, I love my job.
