Payday (With a cherry on top)

leave a response

We usually get our salary 1-2 days before the actual payday. Gary and I have actually figured out a way to know if our salary has gone in. We have our own ATM at the office inside the diner. So the moment we see this long line, we know that we got money.

Every 15th and 30th of the month is the usual payday for most people in the Philippines. It’s day of anticipation for most. But March 15 was a very special payday for the employees of my call center. On this payday, our performance appraisal salary increase reflects on our payslips. The day the results of the review were annouced, the new basic salary of each employee where also noted. Mixed reactions are what you see in the office. Some were ecstatic. Some were disappointed. Me? Well, let’s just say that I had to read my new salary three times just to make sure I read it right.

:D

The call center industry is possibly the most popular career path in the Philippines. It is also probably the number one fallback. Though I might have dreamt of becoming a speech pathologist or an ice skater in the past, I wouldn’t think that I’ll be earning as much as I am now if I pursued either of the two. The industry is financially promising and they shower you with benefits such as health care, night differential, allowances, commission and a whole lot of other things.

Though I’m still not sure if this is really what I’m gonna do for the rest of my life, I’m staying for a while. Who knows? I might just look at it as my cash job, but it can also be my sexy job.

This will sound cliché, but your determination is pretty much paying off right now. :)

Correct! looking back thru the course i graduated from I must say that call center agents earn more than a regular PT staff. who burns her feet and body serving patients all day. than that of a call center agent burning her/his all day or night working! and wahlah! pay day comes and presto salary! ;-) WhoaH

bwahahah… sex or cash… damn! I wish I could also say that. When you are working in a call center in the province you don’t get the same salary that you folks are having. They say because it’s a “provincial rate”. *sigh*

Good luck!

P.S. I posted some of your articles in my site. Hope it’s okay. You got some interesting posts.
