How Can I Get a Job in a Call Center?

This is a tribute to Rico who has a knack for asking/answering questions.

4 ways to Get a Job in a Call Center:

1. Grab the daily newspaper.

The Classified Ads will give you a buffet of choices. Normally they will tell you the qualifications and sometimes even the job description there so you know what to expect. Contact numbers for inquiries are also available.

2. Apply online.

Sign up for Jobstreet or JobsDB. They’ll send you job openings everyday that’ll fill up your inbox. What’s nice about having an account there is that you can create your own profile and search for a job that suits you. I found this very useful in landing my first call center job. I was a college undergraduate at the time and have no call center experience. I searched for specific companies who do not require a college degree and voila! my first call center job.

3. Go building-hopping.

This might sound tiring, but this is probably the fastest way to get a job in a call center. Print out 10-15 copies of your resumé with an picture, bring a valid ID, dress up in a business casual attire and walk around Alabang, Makati, Ortigas or Libis. Some call centers may have their own building and most of them are open to walk-in applicants. All you have to do is pass your resumé, wait to be called and you might just be in your way to your first call center job. I have met someone who literally did the initial test, initial interview, final interview and job offer all in one day. To top it off, she was even asked to start her training the next day. You can also floor-hop and go to those tall buildings and go from one floor to the other and pass your resumés. Just make sure you inquire at the lobby first or you might get into trouble loitering around the building. At the reception area they usually have listings of the different companies that are located in the building, so check first before entering. If there’s no listings, it wouldn’t hurt to ask the receptionist.

4. Log on to www.youhadme-at-hello.com

We work in a call center don’t we? We can refer you and give you tips! We can give you information about what you can expect during your job application. But that’s a different entry altogether. Now I need to get ready for work.
