Recruitment

Gah!!!!!!

Its been 51 days since I last posted anything here and I sincerely apologize. I’ve been busy as a angry bee on steroids because I just got seconded to recruitment (or Illegal Recruitment to Japan, as I would fondly call my new position in life) for 3 months so I had to fix all my documentation before the big move. Being placed in recruitment is considered by many in my office to be a cake walk. A perfect place to spend your time recovering from the ever present burn out and of course count the days away ’til you give birth (I swear I’m surrounded by pregnant co-workers). Its not as easy as it sounds since it is alot of work and in some way, you have in your hands the employment life and death of numerous job searchers. I take what I do now very seriously.

Recruitment is integral to the call center industry due to the ever present attrition rate. Why do we have attrition in the first place? Several factors really. Resignations, terminations, job hopping, burn-out, going back to school, better job offers and a whole lot more.

Now to a lighter note, I must say that being in recruitment feels like being a judge in American Idol. You have no idea how many people feel they are qualified to apply O_o I’ve interviewed people who can’t speak English at all, annoying gigglers (ie. women who giggle like there is no tomorrow when they’re nervous), people who take forever to translate in their head in English their answers and criers (actually people who beg you to give them a chance). There are times that I act like that hot drunken singer and most of the time I behave like the brit with the attitude. I guess that alot of Filipinos really need a break right now financially so they see no harm in trying. Makes you wish you could burn all the financial documents the IMF and WB have on us so that finally we get bumped from 3rd world to 1st world.

I’d like to give a special shout out to jomar and BASSurero for their comments and to my significant other for riding me like a bastard stepson getting whipped in the outhouse for getting something written down ASAP.

‘NUFF SAID!
