One reason why I haven’t written about work is because I actually haven’t been going to work. I was diagnosed with appendicitis last month and had to undergo surgery. The doctor said I needed to take a medical leave for 3 weeks. Now I need to wait about two more months until I can be able to ride a roller coaster and about 5 more months for the wound to fully heal.
Oh well.
The good thing is, I got 3 weeks rest, I was able to quit smoking, and the company’s HMO fully covered everything. They even gave me a sufficient amount of leave credits so I was paid the entire time I was on leave with enough leave credits to spare for the rest of the year in case I need a vacation.
So remember, when applying for a job, the best perk you can ever have will be HMO benefits. I actually took mine for granted for a while, thinking that nothing can ever happened to me because I rarely get sick and had never been confined in my life. You’ll never know what can happen to you. I sure didn’t. So its good to be safe. I’m keeping my health card with me at all times from now on.

now, get back to work! hehe!
I am, and for the first time moving slowly as ever.
Hihihi!
The doctor told me to.
Med Leaves are one of the greatest perks we should have. Unfortunately, with the company I’m in right now. It is considered as PTO or should I say Vacation Leaves. Hu hu hu! Too bad. I’m closely considering to switch (again!) call centers again! Hehehe!
Nway, I’ve added you to my blogroll too!
Beejing: My medical leave was deducted from my vacation leaves too. Luckily, I had 10 leaves that was carried over from last year. That was already two weeks of my 3-week vacation!
Yay!
Try to stay with your company as long as you can. Tenure is a good thing to have. It’ll be a red flag for other call centers if they see you as a job-hopper.
Thanks for adding us in your blogroll!
Nah, I know tenureship on the job is an asset, but that is if you’re still satisfied with your job and the company. Nah, red-flagging here in Cebu is too far, still, from happening. Though I’ve been to different call-centers, been promoted quite a lot of times but nothing can beat self-satisfaction - SSAT.
Nise site!
[…] I honestly have not been following these guidelines at all but I think it’ll be a good idea to try and break a bad habit. First of all, maintaining a regular eating pattern while working at night is extremely hard. Watching the type of food eaten is even harder as McDonald’s is just outside your office and there’s a gazillion vendo machines for sodas and junk food surrounding me. I do not use tranquilizers nor sleeping pills but I do use antacids such as Kremil-S and Zantac (since I’m acidic), and melatonin to aid my sleep. As for relaxing during meals to allow time for digestion… Gah, I wish I did that before the medical leave that I wish I never had. […]
hmm.. i also had my appendectomy during Apr-May 2007..
that was not good. I like the nurses though.. hehe
